In 2003, SMP joined forces with one of the world's largest companys, GE Lighting, and became the official distributor for the UK. Once again, SMP found that new premises were needed due to continued growth and acquired an additional purpose built unit in 2006.
Today, SMP are going from strength to strength and continue to grow. Our new range of commercial vehicle lighting compliments our other current ranges and is a natural progression for our future growth and customer requirements.

SMP Autobulbs Ltd was founded in 1976 by Sidney Pennington as a mobile sales operation travelling around the North West of England, supplying motor factors with quality lighting products.
By 1980 it became obvious that premises were needed and SMP moved into its first warehouse in Wigan.
As SMP expanded, a more centralised location was needed and along with new premises in South Derbyshire, a new team was put together.
